Oil baths are great for nourishing and strengthening your hair, but did you know they can also impact your piercings? Many of our customers have lost their jewelry because the oils made it easier to accidentally unscrew it . Here's what you absolutely need to know to avoid this mishap.

Why Oil Baths Can Make Your Piercings Fall Out?

Oil is a naturally lubricating substance. When it comes into contact with your piercing jewelry:

  • It penetrates the screw thread, reducing grip and increasing the risk of accidental unscrewing.
  • It facilitates involuntary movements of the jewel, especially if you sleep or move your head a lot after a treatment.
  • It can reduce friction between the screwed parts of your jewelry, making the fit less secure.

How to avoid losing your jewelry?

🔹 Before your oil bath:

✅ Check the screwing of your jewelry and tighten them if necessary.
⚠️ Do not remove your jewelry before an oil bath if your piercing is still healing. The hole can close quickly, and putting the jewelry back in can be difficult after treatment. It is best to keep them in place and limit direct contact with the oil.
✅ Apply the oil carefully, avoiding the piercing area as much as possible.

🔹 After your oil bath:

✅ Wipe your jewelry with a clean cloth to remove excess oil and avoid any risk of involuntary lubrication of the screw thread.
✅ Check the screw connection again to make sure it is securely in place.
✅ If you feel that your jewelry is turning more easily than usual, clean and tighten it immediately.
