Hygiene and healing: the basics not to be neglected
After a good workout, your body sweats. And sweat creates the perfect environment for bacteria. If your piercing isn't fully healed yet, things can quickly go wrong.
Our advice: wait until the wound has fully healed before resuming physical activity . In the meantime, carefully clean the pierced area after each workout with saline solution.

What jewelry should you choose depending on your sport?
Some piercings are less problematic than others depending on the practice: helix, rook, daith, tragus or flat piercings can be worn with less risk. But it all depends on the jewelry .
In sports, labrets with a ball or thin rings are preferred. Anything that protrudes or snags should be avoided.
If you can't remove your jewelry before the session, protect it with a bandage to limit friction or impact. And of course, if it pulls or itches: take it off .
The riskiest sports for piercings
Swimming
Swimming pools are full of chemicals and bacteria. If your piercing is new, avoid swimming at all costs. Otherwise, wear a waterproof bandage and clean it thoroughly afterward.
Combat sports and martial arts
Risks of impact, friction, and tearing: the danger is very real. It is strongly recommended to remove your jewelry for training. If this is not possible, use a bandage or ear protectors.
Bodybuilding and fitness
Be careful of friction with clothing or straps. Adapt your outfit (sports bra, bandeau, etc.) to avoid any irritation.
Should you remove your jewelry before a session?
Whenever possible: yes. It's the safest solution. But we know it's not always easy. In that case, make sure the jewelry is screwed on securely, stable, discreet, and protected.
If you have a nipple or navel piercing, consider materials like bioplast or silicone, which are more flexible and comfortable.
The right reflexes to adopt
- Clean your piercings after each session
- Avoid wearing any protruding jewelry during the activity.
- Protect sensitive areas with appropriate dressings
- Watch for redness, pain, or swelling.
- Consult a doctor if you observe any problems (rejection, irritation, etc.).
In summary
Piercings and sports go hand in hand, provided you adapt your routine. Listen to your body, respect the healing process, choose the right jewelry, and you can continue training without worry.
